Providence Health Group Founder and CEO of Providence Health, LLC started his career in long-term care over 25 years ago. He got his introduction to Health Care in 1979 at the early age of 14, when he spent two years washing dishes in a 100-bed nursing home. From this early exposure his life long passion for working in Health Care was ignited.
This desire led him to complete in 1986 his Bachelor’s degree in Long-Term Health Care Administration, from Southern Adventist University. Upon graduation and a short stint as a Director of Purchasing for a nursing home company in Nashville, Tennessee, he obtained his Nursing Home Administrator’s License in Florida.
In 1987 at the age of 22 Doug obtained his first NHA job in Panama City Florida at a 160-bed nursing home. During his career as an Administrator Doug’s worked in several states including, Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida, which provided him the chance to work with facilities ranging in size from 112 beds to as large as 390 beds. These successes launched him into greater challenges including Regional Director of Operations, Chief Development Officer and Chief Operating Officer with companies that were both For-profit as well as Not-for-profits. Doug also enjoyed his time as part of a consulting firm assisting multiple facilities and companies across the US working as a rehabilitation and clinical documentation Consultant. In all during his career, he has had the privilege to work with over 50 facilities in more than 20 different states.
In 2005 Doug took his first plunge into ownership by purchasing along with a partner an 81 bed Skilled Nursing Facility and Personal Care Home, located in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. This facility has performed at exceptional levels every single year they have owned it. In 2007 Doug added to his portfolio The Cottages of Clayton, Inc., a 94 bed Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facility located in Dayton, Ohio.
Then, in early 2013, Doug founded Providence Health Group, LLC a Senior Health Care Consulting & Management Company, based in the Nashville Tennessee area. Doug’s commitment to quality of care and quality of life for residents is an integral part of his operational design, which has also yielded high financial and operational outcomes.
